Death valley
Over 550 km of sweet road and hot weather. 44 degrees was the hottest day, the temps would reach 36 by 8:30 am each day. Bring lots of water this place is very deceptive and does not offer lots 2nd chances. It was one of the hardest rides I have ever done. I can't wait to go back in 2013. You in ?
Death valley to me is my "Everest" , it's so hot and dry. Each day we would drink around 5- 6 liters of water. We planed the town stops, so that we could take on more ice and water. On day 3 we ran out of water on the last climb out of the valley into Shoshone and were lucky to flag a few cars down for more water. I hit the wall big time on that day, I loved every minute of digging deep.
Some people say that the 508 race or Badwater race is harder, maybe. I have never done them, so I can't really compare the two. They are both hard events, hands down. But, I think heading out into Death valley with no support team by your side 24hrs a day is way harder. No one is there making sure you are on top of your salt pills and talking to you when you have a "low" spells.
If you ever get a chance to go to Death valley, GO !!!! Maybe not on a bike for 4 days and 550 km, but for me it's a little slice of heaven and hell.
Thank you DEATH VALLEY! See you again in 2013
Enjoy the ride !

Nice video; especially watching this after coming back from a bike ride. We can barely get around Death Valley to see all the sites in a vehicle, and you folks do it on a bike. Thanks for sharing!
