Racing or training weekend ?
What a great weekend of training/racing. After making a few mistakes in the trekking stage of the Momar in Squamish, and then getting 2 flats. I knew it was going to be a long day in the hot sun. Jen segger set a super hard route and after racing for 5 plus hrs. The route was up the Chief for the sweet-ass rappel.
I was the 6Th solo male across the line, but after racing all day my CP punch card was a little destroyed. I was penalized for it. Dropping me out of the top ten. Boooooo !!! oh well it's only racing.
Big thanks for Jen , Brian , and all the Volunteers for such a great race ! And to all the first time adventure racers - you guys rocked it !( K-ho , nice work buddy.)
So, that was that. Off to the next race ! Sunday morining came around a little to quick. I was up early to help set up the Whistler Valley trail run. The first trail run in the Sea to sky trail running series.
Another great sunny day in here Whistler. As racer started to show up for sign up. I knew a few of the face, but one thing about Whistler. Is that this town brings in lots of great athlete from all over the world. So, you never know who is going to be there at the start line.
I ran well, legs did not feel sore from the Momar. I was able to run smooth and at a pretty good pace. I ended up with 7th over all, and managed to get some GC points for the Sea to sky trail running series. Which was one of my goals.
Thanks to all the Vollies out there , see you at the next race! ( 5 peaks , SFU)

2 races 2 days
Here we go ! I love race season. I always have fun in all my races, no matter if it's killing me out there. This weekend will be full of fun. 2 races in 2 days .
DAY 1 : Momar Adventure Race , 50 KM
Day 2 : Whistler Valley trail run 10 km
Rumor has it Jen Segger has set a wicked course for the years Momar in Squamish. 50 km solo will be the distance. I will also be riding a new bike from Giant. The Whistler Bike Co hooked me up with a sweet ride, the trance X2.
Oh, I did pimp my ride with some Avid Juicy carbon brakes, full carbon set up from Race Face (thanks Chris), Chromag seat. It's my ride, and I love it !
The Whistler Valley trail will be a gut buster, Christine Suter, Race Director and good friend of mine, had to change the route. This years route will be a very hard 10 km, lots of hills at the start. If you would like to race the Whistler Valley trail run on Sunday, you can sign up at race day, Spruce Grove park in Whistler. Race starts @ 9 am.
See you out there!!

Race for the pink
The Giro D'Italia has started over 6 days ago, and things are heating up. If you need your daily Giro click here to watch. You will have t get up early like the Tour to watch.
Ivan Basso is back on the Cycling tour after serving a 17 month ban in The OperaciĆ³n Puerto doping case. Basso has signed a two-year contract with Liquigas and is back this year.
Just take a look at the A team bus. It's sweet ! Riders spend alot of time just getting to start lines and they need a comfy place to chill and take care of themselves The Liquigas bus comes equipped for all necessary stuff.
MOVIE TIME
The back of the bus has a cushy place to perch, with a good view of a TV (the bus has satellite TV so team support can watch stages while heading from the start line to the finish), and naturally a DVR, PS3.

COKE, ANYONE ?
There are plenty of refreshments on the team bus; and opposite this door is the door to the team showers, where there are three sets of showerheads and drains so the team can wash up quickly on the way to the hotel and a subsequent rubdown.

No starbuck here
Italy (not Starbucks) invented espresso. And since this is a mostly Italian squad the bus MUST have an espresso machine. A coffee company is also one of the team’s sponsors. Naturally

Frank the tank !!!
Sunday morning, game on ! After spending Saturday night watching the Canucks get killed(for the first time this year in the playoffs ). I tried to get some sleep, but our great friend "Peller" woke us all of us up at about 1 am. We call him "Frank the tank " in urban dictionary quote "when a person drinks a large quantity of alcohol and their alter ego emerges- the more drastic difference between the person and the alter ego, the more "frank the tank" they are- inspired by the movie old school's character frank the tank as portrayed by Will Ferrel "dude- you were so frank the tank last night!"
All in all the race went really great sunny cool sky's - I came in at 1hours and 26minutes. Which in my books isn’t too bad for being an Adventure racer. Yes, I’d do it again. I think next time I would work more on my speed workouts.
Skate Skiing all winter long does help the fitness for running, but I wish I was in better running form right now. Oh well, I have 16 more race to go this season. 3 More to go this month alone.
see ya out there!

Street credit
Half a commitment ? Wtf ? That's all I heard all weekend long. I was in Vancouver to Cheer Craig Johnson in his first Marathon. Yah! I was not really up for racing a full marathon , so I ran the half. Half a commitment , I know.
Really nice weather, cool & sunny. I always enjoy watching any race, the human spirit at it's finest.
Craig was great ,ran smooth all race long . He had no real problems. I have been helping Craig with his training and racing program, and it's super cool to see someone finish their goals. Here is a few Videos of his race. Finished in 3:27 ! Nice Work.

race season starts this weekend. Yippee !!!!
After some time off from the Olympic park. I have been running lots of pavement due to the fact most of the trails are just freeing themselves of snow. I have had to get most of my long runs on the pavement with out any real rain. I guess I was lucky until Sunday.
The Weather for the BMO marathon is calling for rain , and lots of it. Good luck to all the racers out there.
See you at the finish line !
Oh this is my first half marathon in 9 years. Should be a fun one !
